2018_03_10 Another Sandown and yes I went again

😷 2018_03_10 My Mum saw the TV adds for Liverpool "Of course you will be visiting me then?"

So another promise broken (that is to never go to Sandown again)

Mind you Auscision made it all worthwhile. Meeting friends was another plus.
So others will show you pictures and talk about the layouts.
I will show you the specials I got..

Here is something I found for my mate Al :) Hope he likes it, as it operates traffic lights for crossroads, that is 4 directions using Australian system that is yellow> Red> Green> Yellow and back to red again. (optional bus or tram light to boot ;)

48 ft containers. A bit late for my era, but... I like them

A Alco Class 45 from the Auscision grab bin. Thanks guys, its quiet, complete and runs well DC.

A few more containers. Thanks Bruce Race :) You talked me into them, but I am happy :)

Was never going to pay what they were asking for these, however  they were caught with too many of the early paints, so I picked this one up very cheap!

And a few more cars :)

I also visited Kyneton on the Sunday...

Kyneton Exhibition 2018

One seller had some small packs of Chinese stuff at  good prices

I will use these to light up the sheds. Paint inside white and top green. Try to remove posts and hang them from the rafters. If that does not work, I will write to the Chinese seller and see if he will make me the shades without the posts? Packs of 3 for$5

5 for $5 Pretty reasonable? includes 15 Led's and resistors.

Cheers

2018_03_03 Weathering the rail and the B.E.

2018_03_03  ok Graeme shows me his weathering methods and paints my rail. I continue with the B.E.

minimum masking and using an airgun.

The B.E.

Its coming along and all I need is bits and pieces to hi light the scene. I have a parcel coming with most of these. Unfortunately the Mobillift crane looks like a scratch build, according to Owen of

2018_02_19 Lttle update :)

2018_02_19  Gosh nearly a month. Still no air conditioning :(

However the temperature is mild, and so that is not my reason for work slowing down in the shed :(

Have not been well, and not in the mood for it, particularly as the wiring problem did not seem to be improving. One step forward and two steps back....  However!

Here is a thread on Face Book group DCC Downunder which I started

A bit excited to see if this works. I know the boys at DCC Downunder got it right. Just have to double check that the discovered "Gremlin" is truly a reverse loop, and fixing that solves the problem :D

 Cheers

2018_01_28 Geelong for a day

2018_01_28  Took my Annual drive to Geelong to visit friends and attend the excellent Corio Model Railway show.

I don't have much luck with air conditioners, do I?
Average temp is 38C and unless I get in before 8.00am the shed is out of bounds.
Two local Air-Con repairers are just not coming out to repair it after 4 weeks waiting.

I picked up some very nice WAGR open wagons from SDS as well ordered a Class 30T from Austrains for Albury.

As well a DRC I ordered was ready to pick up.

Because I am not getting things done outside, I decided to move my tools and DCC test gear into my office, and so I at least can get things done inside where the aircon does now work.

SDS built WAGR open wagons for SG freight variety.

Now at Tess Springs the new DRC and a trailer I already had.  (OK Steve I found the fault, or at least the camera, did :) Its cool.)

And so I moved it in, but now I have to clear the shelves to put this stuff in place and clear the small desk place to have any chance to do some meaningful work in here :D

Cheers

2018_01_09 Building a shed

2018_01_09 Bogie Exchange

Not a lot to report. Have been doing more wiring, buying stuff and decided to build the bogie Exchange shed, as something different.

I think it was a pike n stuff Engine shed, and modified it to look like Wodonga B E Shed.

Ok make sure I have clearance to points then fill in trackwork with bitumen and concrete in shed

Damn Ran out of paint,,,
Place lots of junk? Hmmm can I buy wagon jacks? or do I need simulate them?
Lots of drums and springs ha Ha

2017/12/23

2017_12_23 Anniversary so sad,but in 2004 I lost my wife to cancer this day.

2017_12_23  just wasted the day, but did get an hour or two in the shed.

Running a few trains, adding a few droppers and then I decided to attack the bogie Exchange building!

Its a "pike n stuff" engine shed, but the way I cut it up, it does look like the Exchange shed, don't you think?

Bit close to points? however the 80 footer fits so might leave it there.Cheers

2017_12_18 Gum Boot? or have my FB posts caught up with me?

2017_12_18 Oi!! Wot's this??  A medical boot and GPS tracker?

Only way to find out, is open it, I guess?

Hmm? too small for what I thought it might be.

Oh, it is Stuarts Golden Fleece. I just have to glue on the signs!

Here is where it goes, over the line from the Pub!

Just have to dig it in :D and plant the cross bucks and finish the culvert ( Ian Wilson Models)

Ah Stuart modified an engine shed to look like the old Wodonga Carriage shed.

Pretty nice, eh?

The work platforms are included and can be placed in correct position.

The Sprinter arrived about 40 years too late to use the real shed, however in my version the shed survived in a different place as well.

I always have excuses.
This one is more of the same. I have not been feeling well, and get too tied in a cold room, as well as a hot one :(

So I had a few weeks of good weather, but life got in the way, with visits to Mildura , Bendigo and Melbourne. And then I was not feeling so well. By the time I was right to work in the shed, the temp was in the 30's (C) and the damn water cooler failed again, just like last summer. Turned out the frost had broken a tap, and the plumber fixed it but left the tap turned off. OK found problem and today was quite enjoyable in the shed.
I finished up a couple of sound projects and started to clean up Albury, so Al and I can start laying track, as soon as he is well enough.
He is really good for me, as a friend and as a driver Ha Ha slave driver :D
Cheers all
